My lease is ending soon and I'm scared to death I'll lose my $775 deposit. My roommate brought the fleas with her cat, but they moved out 2 months ago. There are NO pets and NO carpets in the home. After bombing the tiny (800 sq.ft.) home several times, I enlisted friends and waged a massive assault: 1. I stripped the beds and washed the linens. I even ran pillows in the dryer. 2. I treated beds, curtains, upholstered chairs w/ a spray that promises to kill fleas eggs. Twice. 3. I bought a flea spray that you hook up to your garden hose. I treated the whole foundation to a height of 2 ft. 4. I opened every drawer cabinet and set off *10* name-brand (Raid) flea bombs fumigators (some at floor level, some on tables). 5. At the same time, I had my friend set off three double-size Raid bombs in the crawlspace below my home. When I re-entered 3 days later, I kicked off my shoes. I had about 15 fleas on each bare foot within seconds. I can't afford a professional. PLEASE help? =(

Flea.org Recommends:

The permetherin sprays with a vacuum are about the only way to get rid of them. It will usually take 2 weeks worth of spray treatments. My cat had fleas right before I left for 3 weeks and came home to helll. So I understand. The bombs are worthless. Just keep using the spray. I really like the aerosol cans. They seem to mist better and have a better spray pattern. May God remove this plague from your house.

You could try Home Depot or Pet Smart for an indoor Flea bomb fumigator ... You will have to stay out of the house for a day or so... but something that strong, will kill all the fleas !

There is something getting into your crawlspace. It could be an opossum, raccoon, cat, etc. You will not see it when someone goes in to set off the bombs. You need to make sure all entrances to your crawlspace are sealed to prevent whatever it is from getting back in. You will need to rebomb the place in 2 weeks to kill any of the eggs that hatched.

I had luck with the bombs. Walk through the house backwards avoiding the vapor and lock it up for several hours. The problem comes in if you.ve got wood floors that the buggers can get into or they get down in a sandy crawlspace.

That's quite an infestation. You might be bringing them in from outdoors. Kick your shoes off at the door and check them before you go in. Also, when you vacumned did you remove the bag immediately and place it in the trash outside? Or you can also put a length of flea collar in the bag and then dispose of it outside. Don't leave it in your home or the fleas will simply crawl out and start laying more eggs.
